In this class we cover:

  • The 10 Essentials

  • Staying warm

  • Building fires

  • Basic knots

  • Constructing emergency shelters

  • Water filtration/collection

  • Weather best practices

This class combines lectures with hands on experience. There will be moderate hiking (2 miles with some uphill. Roots and loose rocks as well as occasional mud) You will be getting up and down from the ground. Dress in weather appropriate layers and closed toed shoes.

Who is this class for?

  • Anyone who wants to feel more comfortable and confident camping and hiking in the backcountry

  • Beginners and experienced hikers who want to add new tools to their tool belt

  • Adults 18 years and older (kids 12 and up if accompanied by an adult)

What to Bring:

  • Water bottle (filled with water silly)

  • Bug spray (there will be bugs)

  • Sunscreen/Sun protection

  • Closed toed shoes that can get muddy (cute white sneakers at your own risk)

  • Weather appropriate layers
